Accessibility Statement
Everyone deserves equal access to safety information. Here is how this website is built to be usable by as many people as possible, and how to reach us if something gets in your way.
Our Commitment
Safety work is about including everyone, and so is this website. We want every visitor, including people who use screen readers, keyboards, magnification, voice control, or other assistive technology, to be able to learn about our services and reach us easily.
The Standard We Follow
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, the widely used standard for accessible websites. The site was designed and built with accessibility from the start, and we review it as content changes. Accessibility is ongoing work, and we keep improving.
What We Have Built In
- A “Skip to content” link and a clear, logical heading structure on every page.
- Full keyboard use: menus, the services menu, carousels, and pop-up windows work with Tab, Enter, and Escape, and focus returns where you left off when a window closes.
- A visible focus outline so you always know where you are on the page.
- Text, form fields, and focus outlines that meet contrast requirements, including text placed over photos.
- Text alternatives for meaningful images. Purely decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
- Support for your device’s “reduce motion” setting, which stops the slideshow, scrolling effects, and animations.
- Pause buttons on everything that moves on its own: the photo slideshow at the top of the home page, the rotating credentials circle, and the scrolling “Featured In” list.
- Large tap targets for touch screens, and layouts that adapt to phones, tablets, and zoom up to 200 percent without losing content.
- Clear labels and instructions on every form field.
Known Limitations
Some content on this site comes from other organizations. News station videos, YouTube videos, and linked articles are controlled by their publishers, and their captions, transcripts, or audio description may be missing or imperfect. If you need an accessible version of a video or article, contact us and we will do our best to help, such as by providing a summary.
Some older event photos are documentary images, and their descriptions focus on who and what is shown.
Accommodations at Trainings and Events
Our accessibility commitment extends beyond this website. If you or your participants need an accommodation to take part in a training, presentation, or event, such as a sign language interpreter, captioning, large print materials, or an accessible room setup, let us know when you book. We will work with you and the host organization to arrange it.
Tell Us About a Barrier
If anything on this site is hard to use, or you need information in a different format, please tell us. Let us know the page and what happened, and we will respond within four business days and work to fix it.
